SFFSAT #42

Hello and welcome to another #sffsat post. Thanks for stopping by and your comments each week. I’m slacking a bit this weekend – the tour has knocked me flat! So I’ve taken another random snippet from Keir – in this excerpt, Keir begins to question his feelings…

No. Shame burned his skin. Quin was his friend, the first he had ever had. The first person to show him kindness in more years than he could count. Yet at that moment he wanted more. For the first time in remembrance, he wanted to touch and be touched in return. To hold her and have her return his embrace freely, with more than a friend’s affection. To feel her white skin under his fingertips. To brush the hair from her face as the breeze did now, and run his fingers through it.
His thoughts dishonored her gift of friendship to him.

SFFSAT #41

Hello! Welcome to another #sffsat snippet. Two days from now (less probably by the time you read this) Keir will be up on the Lyrical website, and Amazon too. Woo hoo! So this week I’m going with part of the snippet I chose as a teaser for the book. Quin has been teaching Keir a few things…

The fight was over. They lay face to face, hearts pounding in unison and panting from their efforts.

“Nice move,” she said, a smile curving her lips. “Now you’re learning.”

“Thank you.” Keir stared down at her for a moment. With his own arm trapped beneath her, they lay locked together in a tight embrace, Quin acquiescent in his grasp. The sparring had added a warm flush to her skin. The heat and softness of her body beneath his crowded into his awareness. Even through the coarse fabric of their combat gear, he felt the rapid flutter of her heartbeat.
